Theta Tau had a busy but fun fall semester. We started out the year with our initiated members working hard through recruitment workshops. Formal Recruitment was held over Labor Day Weekend. We ended the weekend with 50 amazing new members who continued on to their Pledge Ceremony the next night. Continuous Open Recruitment (COR) went into full swing after Bid Day and 9 more girls joined our chapter throughout the semester.
Sisterhood retreat was held at the McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Alabama. We watched an IMAX movie called Oceans, participated in Sisterhood Activities, ate liquid nitrogen ice cream, and bonded with our sisters during this weekend.
Formal was held at the Hutton Hotel. Our sisters ate a great meal prepared by the hotel staff and then danced the night away at this Black Tie Affair.
The next night was Halloween, where we participated in our annual big Philanthropy Event. Sister’s went door to door, trick-or-treating for spare change that would then be donated to our philanthropy. We raised $2395.65 this night.
Our chapter participated in many Philanthropy events throughout the semester including: Vandy Family Day and the ADA Walk with Austin Peay’s Chapter, Theta Psi. We also enjoyed other chapter’s events around campus, such as: ATO’s event, Disco Is Dead, Theta’s event, Pay to Pie an Eta Phi and ATO and AST’s Teeter Totter!
Alpha Gam Family Weekend was hosted and many of our sister’s families came down to visit. They were able to attend a tailgate on Saturday and a lovely brunch hosted by our formal VPCR, Margie Larkin. Superlatives were handed out to some of our sisters at this event.
Big/Little Reveal was the next weekend. The Littles found out who their Bigs were by opening a box that had been carefully decorated by their Big to reveal a balloon with the Big’s name on it. Excited families then hung out after reveal, preparing for Initiation the next day.
Theta Tau initiated 59 members this year and we continue to look forward to growing our chapter even more.
Officer nominations and elections were held at the very end of the semester. Executive Council and Chapter Council were decided and the new officers are already working hard at their new positions.
We can’t wait to see what comes our way this next semester!
